Downtown Kansas City Fountains As with most of Kansas City's neighborhoods, the downtown area has its fair share of fountains for visitors to see. There are four of these structures that are exemplary in this part of the city. One is the Barney Allis Plaza Fountain on 12th and Wyandotte. Another is the City Hall Fountains at 12th and Oak, which were shut down during WWII to conserve energy. The Muse of Missouri at 9th and Main is another impressive fountain, as well as the stainless steel Rain Thicket Fountain at 12th and Walnut, which is a unique and favored fountain of the city. The Vietman Veterans Fountain The Vietnam Veterans Fountain was built in 1986 as a tribute not only to the fallen soldiers, but to those who had served in the war. Written on the walls of this memorial fountain are the names of all the soldiers who died or who went missing during the conflict. It is located close to Westport on the east side of Broadway Street. The Firefighters Fountain As a memorial to the many fallen firefighters, this fountain was built in 1991 and is one of the biggest in Kansas City. It holds 76,000 gal (34,5500 L) of water in it and has the names of Kansas City firefighters who died over the years written on a granite plaque. The Children's Fountain In celebration of youth, the Children's Fountain in North Kansas showcases the city's appreciation for the future generations. The fountain was designed by a local artist Tom Corbin to resemble six children playing the water and was completed in 1995. This fountain is found on the fork in the road involving North Oak Trafficway and Missouri Hwy 9. |

The Hallmark Cards Visitors Center is found in Kansas City's Crown Center. Through a variety of displays, films, guides and interactive exhibits, guests will learn the history of this card empire from its simple start in 1910 to its modern day accomplishments. Rozzelle Court Fountain Kansas City's oldest fountain, the Rozzelle Court Fountain, is located in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This decorative structure was built around 200 A.D. and is believed to have once been used in Rome as an imperial bath which was filled with oil to clean dust from the arena. J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain The J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain is one of Kansas City's landmark fountains. It is found in the Country Club Plaza and can be identified by the four horse figures standing on it, each of which stands for a famous river of the world. Crown Center Fountains Surrounded by Hallmark Cards' headquarters, several theaters and shopping facilities, the Crown Center Fountains are just one more attraction in this area. The water juts out from under the cobblestone plaza to heights up to 30 ft (9 m).
